Gothic Arches - exploring arches through mixed media

I created this eBook last summer, a labor of love that took many hours to create. My hope was to get it published, but with the economy several publishers told me they were cutting back on "paper" type craft books. I have finally compiled and edited the book into a format that I thought might be fun and thus a FREE downloadable eBook was created.

I wish to thank the artists who contributed their work to make this project a success. There are so many that I wished to include (perhaps a second edition) because there are so many talented artists contributing their work. I was unable to compile a few artists work because of time constraints and not getting their information.

I hope you will enjoy this little eBook and find creative inspiration in it!

A bit about our hostess:

"I am a complete stamp addict, and "collect" them like others collect antiques and stuff!! Seriously, I love to stamp and colour and collage, trying to jigsaw and layer to make a good composition. I have been crafting for a few years now, and like to challenge myself and others. After completing this piece, I have about one square foot left to work in, so nothing new there then!!! All part of the creative process, which sums me up exactly!!! Tai Chi and crafting have kept me going through many difficult times, and I love and respect all the friends I have made out there in blogland. Enjoy..."

A bit about our hostess:

I'm a paper crafter, mixed media artist and more recently a digital artist too. I collect everything from tickets and stamps to bottle tops and rusty stuff. My family think I'm totally bonkers but I like to call it simply eccentric!

I love stamping, distressing and stitching on projects and I'm always on the look out for new techniques.

I'm a British Expat living in leafy Luxembourg with my long suffering husband and three beautiful daughters, who are the inspiration for alot of my projects.

:::Challenge Update:::

I wanted to thank everyone for helping while I moved and remodeled. I have been physically in my new house for one week now, although we are still remodeling. The first four days I didn't have a kitchen counter, sink, or washer/dryer. Floors are still being laid. I hope to have my art studio set up in the next few weeks, but in the meantime we will have some different challenges here. I am looking forward to the day when I will not unpack boxes or sweep up drywall dust!

Thank you to the hostesses who pulled through with their creative flair so I could concentrate on moving and remodeling and the participants who continued to play and create here. :)

The Gothic Challenge may be different starting in a few weeks...I am in the process of moving into a new home which we will be remodeling beforehand and doing quite a bit of the work ourselves...my plan is to be able to pre-program the blog here with our themes...but it may mean there will not be a "sampler" each week. A bit about our hostess:

Jan resides in Colorado at 8,000' in the Arkansas River Valley surrounded by 14,000' mountains. She has been married to Dave for 40 years and has a daughter, son-in-law and a grandson. Jan has quilted for over 20 years, found Altered Art/Mixed Media/Collage 3 years ago and love working in those mediums. She also makes dolls(fabric and paperclay). She is a big time road bike rider in the summer, runner, hiker and in the winter and loves to snowshoe and backcountry ski.

Our theme for the next two weeks will be to create a shrine using a gothic arch shape somewhere in the assemblage. You can use anything for your box (I know we will see some wonderful creations here)!

I need a bit of time to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday (my son is coming up from his Army base and it will be his first birthday and Thanksgiving at home in over 3 years) :) and we are also house hunting which has been extremely stressful! I thought we could try something different the next two weeks! Happy creating!

I'm a happy-go-lucky crafter living in southeast PA with my husband, Bill, my son, Levi, and our dog, Max. I teach papercrafting classes, do design work, and routinely submit my work for publication. I am a certified educator for Ranger in Ink & Embossing and Perfect Pearls, and a certified trainer for Fiskars. My favorite technique is Wrinkle Free Distress and my favorite tools are stamps. Not a minute goes by that I do not enjoy when I'm crafting.

Kersten is an Alaskan stamper, mixed media artist, and rough draft poet.
